Chris Leadbetter

An accomplished guitar and mandolin player, Chris is known for his voice, notably singing harmonies. From 1994 to 2015, he was a core member of a popular cover band, The Swinging Johnsons, playing clubs and private functions around New England as a lead singer and guitar player.

During that time he recorded three full-length CDs with Boston songwriter Digney Fignus, featuring his harmony vocals and playing electric guitar, mandolin and lapsteel.

Asked to join Signs of Life in 2016, Chris began a writing partnership with Mark (Shecky) in early 2017. Since then, he and Mark have written nearly forty songs together and they are featured on various Shecky albums.

With Phil Antonaides and Jeff St. Pierre, Chris has been part of backing bands for Barbara Kessler, Bob Malone and Grace Pettis. Jeff and Chris also perform with New York based songwriter Marc Berger when he comes through New England.

He has recently been writing with Lincoln MA based musician Kat Chapman. Initially a side-man in her band, Katrin and Chris have three songs available on popular streaming services they have written together.

When not writing or playing music, Chris enjoys road cycling, reading and language studies, primarily French and Italian. He lives in Winchester MA with his wife Julia, two cats, and has two grown daughters.
